- Wall St. warms to Linux with Linux banking apps undergoing successful extensive beta trials
- further penetration of use of Linux in Hollywood creative efforts
- Gnome and KDE updates released
- new fonts released for use in Linux

How Open Is It?
3 layers; some open, some not.
- Mach micro-kernel
- BSD subsystem
- Aqua user interface
Other Points:
- licensing issues are problematic
- Fink Distribution - with Fink you may run a Gnome or KDE desktop
- Apple moving more toward Open Standards
- rendezvous worth taking note of
- programming tools included with the OS
- OS X file system is different than a standard Linux file system
