- 2.4.20 kernel has a journaling filesystem bug that's being addressed
- 2.5.51 kernel is now out - new drivers, faster, scalable

GnuCash 1.8 is now out
additionally; a python script for GnuCash is available for payroll work
- KDE 3.1 release delayed until January 2003, due to security issues

Legal beagle stuff:
- Adobe vs. Elcomsoft case - acquitted on all counts
- Jon Johansen (creator of DeCSS for DVD decryption) case ongoing

update on City of Largo, Florida -- expanding use of Linux and KDE to
supplant MS Windows (ie. X-Terminals in police cruisers)
