  • Can't a commercial company simply take over Linux?
    • No. The licences prevent any company from taking open source software closed.

  • Is Linux Y2000 complient?
    • Yes.

  • Where can I get Linux?
    • Local LUG. $10 / CD.
    • Mail order.
    • Most retailers ($50 to $80)
    • Download from net.

  • Will Linux take over my computer?
    • Linux can "dual-boot" with other operating systems on different partitions of the same harddrive. But only one can run at a time.

  • When should I run Linux?
    • If you're a high-school or post-secondary student interested in or studing computers.
    • ...small business trying to enter the Inter/intranet age without spending a forture.
    • ...anyone doing Internet based work.
    • ...anyone doing software development.

  • When shouldn't I?
    • Currently there aren't many games. If you use your computer primarily to game, stick with Windows.
    • If running your computer without support, and you're not confortable talking about IRQs, don't run Linux yet.
