[newbie] w32-beagle virus

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if an email (presumably from a Windows machine) when
forwarded from my Redhat box, can pass an infection to another Windows
PC? A friend has been informed by BCTel (?) that a virus was detected.
Also his Norton a/v found w32-beagle something or other in mail
forwarded by me.

I understand that Linux is proof against this thing but is it
coincidence that my machine has slowed to a crawl? I have restarted
(warm boot) to no avail and am now going to do a cold one..
