Do you have dhcpcd installed?
It's the DHCP client software to obtain a dynamic IP.
Once installed, you shouldn't have a problem getting an IP from Telus using:
dhcpcd [interface name]
Ex: dhcpcd eth0

Subject: [newbie] Telus ADSL Setup
Hello!
First I'd like to say "hello!" to all the other Linux users in Victoria!
Secondly I'd like some help setting up my computer on Shaw High-Speed... I
just started using Linux (Redhat) last year and I've been able to pick up
everything until I decided to switch to Slackware. I've been using Redhat
and Shaw Cable for a while and everything worked fine but I moved and
decided to switch to Telus' ADSL service and Slackware and now I can't get a
connection to the internet :(
I'm pretty sure my Ethernet card works and I've activated my account with
Telus and registered my MAC address (double checked), however, I still can't
get an ip address! I can ping myself (127.0.0.1). But everything else is
unreachable.
Can anyone list the basic steps to connect to Telus?
Any help would be appreciated. I've spent *days* searching the internet for
instructions but noone else seems to have a problem connecting. I think I'm
just not doing something that's really noob || stupid.
Thanks in advance!!!
Jason
