I don't have an answer to your question, but I do think that you might
want to post this to the main Discuss list.  You will probably get more
of a response there.  I know a few of the guys on Discuss are using
Promise RAID controllers and may be able to give you a hand.

It sounds like you may need to use software to make it work as a RAID.
