I was waiting for someone more knowledgeable to post a reply but since
it's been three days I'll bite.

Running windows games under WINE is probably one of the most finicky
hit-and-miss things I've ever tried to do with Linux.  Windows has a
*lot* of code, bugs, and undocumented features that the WINE team get to
play catch-up with.  Short answer:  There's no magic bullet.

I've seen a lot of positive comments on the web about WineX,
TransGaming's version of Wine.  They put a lot of development and
debugging into it which makes a big difference.  Apparently they are
being good GPL citizens and giving their changes back to the WINE project
so you can rest assured that your money is going to a good cause.  As far
as computer gaming can qualify, that is. ;)
