If your Linux installation is acting completely batty (and by your descript=

it seems to be) then you might be experiencing hardware problems. Try=20
checking your RAM... there's an excellent memory tester called 'memtest86'=

which is available at www.memtest86.com.

As for being unable to dual-boot, it would be helpful if you could give us =
a=20
list of your partitions. Type 'fdisk hda' (if an IDE drive) or 'fdisk sda'=
=20
(if SCSI). Then type 'p' and post the table for us.

Once I have the partition table I (or someone else) will be able to guide y=
ou=20
through making the system dual-bootable.
