Hi all,
Just a reminder and invite to the first VLUG Newbie SIG meeting/road
trip this Saturday February 8th. Some of you might receive this twice
as I am posting it to the discuss list and to the newbie list.
I would also appreciate it if anybody has any burning questions or plans
of bringing a computer would please let me know in advance. We don't
have an agenda set in stone, but it would be nice to have a heads-up
about what the attendees are expecting.
The idea is to leave Victoria around 10 AM on Saturday and arrive Duncan
for a 12 noon start to the event. Event will involve Installs and
general Linux/Open Source chat.
An O'Reilly Linux book will be raffled.
Location is: Duncan Christian School.=20
Thanks to VLUG member Fern Holmes for helping make this possible.
Duncan is about 1 hour, 45 minutes drive from Victoria. Individuals
needing a ride or willing to offer rides are encouraged to sound off on
the Newbie mailing list. (newbie@vlug.org)
The school is located at 495 Beech Ave. After entering Duncan turn
right on Trunk Rd, then left on Beech Ave. It goes right into the
school grounds. The High School is to the right.
All list subscribers from Victoria and north of the Malahat ie: Duncan
and Nanaimo, are invited to attend. We'll look at some aspects of using
Linux, answer questions, and maybe do an install or two. (Bring your
box and distro for installs).
Invitations have also gone out to NanLUG and CowLUG.
I believe Pizza will be involved.
Hope to see you at these events.
