OK I'm running an AMD Duron 1300 Mhz CPU with 650Mb of RAM with an 80Gb
hd Maxtor. I recently purchased a Sony TRV250 Handy cam. I want to
capture video and maybe burn some CD. I'm all setup for burning using
k3b. The Sony comes with windows software,a usb I'm not sure if it's
IEEE 1394 it does not say. I have kino installed already.I'm running
Fedora core 1 with 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl kernel. I have a USB driver
usb-uhci already manufacturer via technologies which has my epson
printer connected to it

here are some questions

has anyone had experience with Sony and kino?

how do I configure a new usb device (camcorder)

I do not have a firewire card do I need one i-link the trademark sony
name is IEEE 1394

I found this link to get me started
http://mercury.chem.pitt.edu/~sasha/LinuxFocus/English/July2002/article254.shtml#254lfindex0

I hope from the manual after configuring the camcorder capture and edit
info should come with kino

Of course the manual is all setup for windows in nice step by step
order, and I am on dual boot XP, FC1 system but since I've spending less
time with XP I've really started to like FC. Any input would be
appreciated
