At 02:16 PM 12/6/2003, Andrew Willard, had this to say :

>I hesitate to recommend one distribution over another, I always tell
>people to get
>as many distributions as they can and try them all... it doesn't cost
>anything but
>your time and a few blank cds. But, if I had to suggest a distribution for
>someone
>just starting out I would tend to chose: Mandrake or even Fedora &
>Knoppix. Choosing
>a distribution is a personal choice, but the nice thing is that no matter
>which one
>you do choose underneath it all is the same system (Linux) and tools (GNU).\

I also recommend Knoppix!

I am a "distro junkie". :D
I like to try new things on a regular basis and earlier this year, I found
Knoppix when I was researching bootable support CDs based on Linux. I
downloaded the ISO and burned it to disc. Booted my system fine and ran
great! I eventually installed it to be able to fully adjust it to my liking. :)

Knoppix is a great way to get into Linux without having to really change
your system. However, it can also be a custom usable system either by boot
CD or by HD install.

Aside from that, currently, my distros of most common use are all RedHat
based. RedHat Linux, LinuxPPC and YellowDog Linux.
