Asking ftpd questions isn't too newbie-ish. Good jumping off point to 
discuss getting rid of ftpd in the first place anyway. I hope nobody 
said that it wasn't appropriate.

The recommendation to use ssh and scp stands. It's the best solution, 
and the most secure. Need a hand setting it up?
