Indeed, better known as the Itanium (or, to The Register, the Itanic).
Funnily enough I just finished teaching a class on the IA-64
architecture - it is *completely* different.

Having already declared there would never be a 64-bit x86 CPU, as the
Itanic was the way forward (pity about the iceberg).
