[Discuss] Edit EXIF Information

Editing EXIF information:     PROBLEM SOLVED -- two ways.

exiftool: I found the man pages pretty daunting! However, by printing them out so I could read them more easily (22 pages, small print), plus looking at the EXIF creation date in another program, I was able to figure out how to add a creation date to a file that did not have one.
-----------
tkalbum problem:  I am guessing that when the program starts, it normally checks the versions of the programs it uses (e.g. album, convert, morgrify (last two from ImageMagick) against some specific version which must have been pretty old!  I could not find the place where this would have been checked in the tkabum script.

However, I found that I could disable the installation check on startup through the options>general settings. Once I did this, all the buttons on the top are active, and I was able to add/modify the creation date without difficulty.
---------
I imagine that someone who is adept at Perl programming could write a very neat GUI for simply modifying EXIF data. I am quite surprised that I could not find one for LINUX (although there appear to be several for Windows). I appreciate the suggestion of looking more closely at TKAlbum. From its description (which is to do a LOT more than I need, and which would appear to be to create HTML Photo Albums), I would not have thought of trying it.
