[Discuss] Anyone Else?

I am a devoted user and supporter of all things Linux and use Linux
software for 90% of my tasks but for the remaining 10% I still use
Windows and I am pleased to use F-Secure provided FREE by Shaw to safe
guard my Windows partition, even though it takes for ever to download
the latest virus definitions and updates every time I boot Windows,
which ain't very often. In the past I was ripped off constantly by
Norton's annual subscription policy or having to rely on AVG which let
through the occasional nasty. I still use free Spybot and Spyblaster to
clean up stuff that F-Secure misses. One day I hope to be able to ditch
Windows entirely but until then I accept Shaw's F-Secure!

My Shaw modem, provided FREE, never has had a Standby Button and I have
rarely felt the need to disconnect my entire network. If I did and did
not want to pull the Ethernet connector I could aways disable the router
via its browser software interface. I wonder how easy it would be to
hack into the router's software (firmware) and run a script on any
computer to shut it down without using the browser?
