Don't bother phoning the number listed... the number is not available in
our calling area. What? Then why send an email with a useless number?

Apparently the reason why this is being done is to better protect their
users from Viruses and to reduce the call volume from users accidentally
pressing the Stand-by button. So I asked the drone if there was anyway
someone that wanted the function returned could have it back? Nope. Once
the new firmware is installed there is no going back... we all know that
isn't true but the drone must have studied the speech last night, he had
it down pat.

The drone at Shaw says "They are more than within their rights to enable
disable devices connected to their network." That may be true but is it right?

If you shut off the power to the modem the new firmware will be installed
before the date listed according to the drone at Shaw.

Again according the drone at Shaw they will replace any equipment even if
you purchased the device outright. Good to know.
