The Intel wireless card in my laptop works well with Kubuntu.  I think 
Intel has tried to work with the LINUX community to provide drivers for 
their wireless cards/chips. I have no idea if you can buy a card with 
the Intel hardware on it.  I have a USB Wireless card, but have never 
tried it. I also have a card that worked fine on Windows XP but I could 
never get it going with LINUX.
