A somewhat illogical reason if you don't mind my saying.  Alarm security 
is just another form of insurance.  The statistical chances of you house 
burning down is very very small yet most people have fire insurance. 
House break-ins are caused by people that not only steal things but 
trash your home creating very very high repair costs.
