It looks like the AR5007EG is only supported via building your own 
version of the Madwifi drives and adding some patches

The suggested way is to use NDISwrapper method, Ubuntu has this package.

Go to this site and download the WinXP Drives for your particular 
hardware (http://www.atheros.cz/).
