[Discuss] New Kubuntu install - Start Menu

I had this problem once before and have forgotten completely how to fix it.

I just installed Kubuntu on an old computer. In the K start menu,
instead of the programs showing up like, for example,
KNotes - Popup Notes

they show up as
_: Entries in K-menu, KNotes app name, Popup Notes description

Someone at that time pointed me to a very simple solution, but of
course, I forget what it was, or even when this happened. I assume it
was probably soon after Kubuntu 7.10 was released.

Anyone remember how to fix this? It is not serious, just a nuisance.

Just for interest: The old computer (not mine) I installed this on had
Windows 98 and the hard drive failed completely (not even recognized by
the BIOS). I put in one of my old hard drives and tried to reload
Windows 98. It was a tedious job which did not work very well. The NIC
card didn't work, the graphics system was not properly recognized, etc.
Since I was just fooling around with it, before giving it away, selling
it or just junking it, I installed Kubuntu. I was really amazed at how
quickly and easily it installed and how everything just worked perfectly
(except for the minor glitch mentioned above).

This is the first time I have tried to install both Windows then LINUX
on the same machine within a couple of days (Windows approximately one
day with marginal success, Kubuntu about 1 hour with no real
difficulties). The computer itself is so old and limited in resources
that I doubt it would even support XP, let alone VISTA.
