As you said, the problem is very weird. This kind of situation
always makes me
   think about this quote:

"It is an old maxim of mine that when you have excluded the
impossible, whatever
remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

            Sherlock Holmes

If your disks are written Ok... if the configuration of both pc's is
the same and only
your computer doesn't make the verification process... theorically
this problem shouldn't
  exists... but it does.

I would like to suggest one "test experiment" just for keep getting
clues about this:
(I know is nasty... but is only a suggestion)
  - Try to boot your computer from a live USB ubuntu [1], and let the system up.
  - Configure your network on the virtual system and install the k3b app.
  - Mount the hard disk partition where you have your *.iso file and
try to burn it from k3b.
  - Do not forget to set the "verify" option
  - Watch what happen...

If for some reason, the virtual system works well... I could say that
for some kind of reason,
the version of K3B in your hard disk distribution is corrupt, so I
suggest you sould to
 update your OS installation.

Hey... only ideas inner the labyrinth.
