 VMware Player is simply VMware workstation without the GUI VMware
machine setup/editor.

 VMware workstation and server can create .vmx files (machine descriptions)
while Player can not. Player can only play existing vmx files.

 If you have a VMware .vmx file and know how to use a text editor, you can
modify the .vmx file yourself.

 Great for testing ISO images, as it is as simple as editing the line
pointing to the ISO file.
