I've got the Kubuntu 8.04 beta loaded on my laptops (dual boots, just in 
case...)

I had to do an upgrade (from 7.10) to get to this stage: the live CD 
wouldn't boot (or wouldn't install I don't recall which right now) 
because it did not contain the firmware for my wireless (Broadcom 43xx).

There have been one or two unexpected glitches: one time when trying to 
set the background image all windows lost their borders and neither 
logging out nor restarting X fixed it, I had to reboot.

However, it does look very pretty and my students seems fairly impressed 
(ooh! what's that you're running?)
