Terabyte FW/USB drives are getting cheap at future shop.
Maybe dd to file images on a TB drive. That way you can
just date-stamp the file name.

I use dd to backup my wife's winXP computer. It's cheaper
and easier than buying a windows backup program, and I'm guaranteed
her computer will return to a known, working, state if it fails.
For windows there is a real difference between a *file* backup
and a *drive/partition* backup.
