[Discuss] Busy thread suddenly...

    Just peeked in the door and saw the troubles. I don't know what I
might be able to do to help, but please throw my hat in the ring as a
potential volunteer. Like some others, I am no longer a computer
industry person, just a hobbyist, but I used to design websites and
various promotional layouts, and I was a photographer in the artistic
realm for a short while. I have also done volunteer PR work for a local
arts group, but I found their interests and mine did not meet.
Considering my interests today, I suppose the logical question to ask is
'when is the next meeting?'

    I have been helped by many on this thread, and as many have said
before me, it would be a shame to lose such a valuable resource.

    That said, now onto a completely different topic. After much
reading, and lots of HDD formatting, my T61p is now committed to
Mandriva 2008. I finally succeeded in getting Kubuntu 7.10 functioning
at runlevel 5 yesterday evening, but the adept updater was so
non-functional, and the install itself seemed so fragile, I decided that
I would stay with the animal I know. Mandriva 2008 has a few annoyances,
but they are things I can work with. 7.10 was unfortunately nothing but
a series of brick walls for me. too bad, because I really like Mark's
entire Ubuntu effort.
