DVI and HDMI are essentially the same thing as far as video is
concerned. The difference (if I remember correctly) is that HDMI
includes the audio while DVI does not. A converter plug is not very
expensive (one came with my HD TV set). I THINK that my satellite box
is DVI and I know my DVD player is HDMI. I think my TV is DVI, but the
DVI-HDMI converter that came with it allows me to use either. With DVI,
you have to use the regular RCA audio cables for sound input. I only
have one HDMI/DVI port. As someone has said, for a normal DVD player,
the difference between HDMI and Component is minimal but it IS
noticeable on HD channels with the satellite box. Thus, I use the
component video output from my DVD player and DVI from my satellite box.
