[Discuss] OT: HD TV capture and bittorrent

Hi, all,
This isn't Linux-related, but I'm hoping that the techies on this list
might educate me.

There was a thread on slashdot the other day regarding MythTV, and one
poster pointed out that you can't get a consumer-level capture card
for HD TV. I've found the same thing; I want to build an HD Myth box
but can't find an HD card.

A poster in that thread said that he always gets his HD TV content off
bittorrent. This confuses me, because I assume that you need an HD
capture card to get HD content digitized to put it on bittorrent.

So, the question is:
Is anyone aware of some hardware or software that would enable someone
to capture HD content digitally?
