Because last time I checked subversion wasn't installed on the machines 
at UVic you could SSH into. :)

Also just inertia: all the courses at UVic which required me to use a 
version control system used CVS.  So it's largely a case of going with 
what I know more than anything else.

Of course the truth is because I'm lazy and don't really feel like 
putting in the effort to learn subversion although I probably should (if 
for no other reason than just so that I'm familiar with the version 
control system "of the future").

Y'know I've always heard about all the bugs and limitations of CVS, but 
I've not run into a single problem using it (and I've used it for all my 
schoolwork for the last 3-4 years).
