[Discuss] Kubuntu install

I decided to try to install Kubuntu on my primary Windows XP computer.
I wanted to make sure that I did not mess up the Windows MBR so (using
AMD 64 Alternate version), when it got to the section where it wanted to
install GRUB on the MBR, I said, "no" and installed it on a floppy
instead. I then thought that if I removed the floppy, it would just
boot to Windows -- but no chance!!!

I tried to use the Windows XP CD in the Recovery mode, and I was going
to try to FIXBOOT or FIXMBR, but both gave warnings about the likelihood
of loosing all my partitions. Probably, this is because when
installing Kubuntu, I had it resize my C drive partition and used the
resulting free space for LINUX. I can boot to Windows using the floppy.

Second problem: in Kubuntu, when I try to go to the system settings and
look at the hard drives, it says it cannot do so because "Disks &
Filesystems module is missing". I tried to find this module (whatever it
is) using Adept, but since I really don't know what it is called, I
could not find it.

Third problem: After rebooting several times, I ended up with a screen
size of 800X600 which I could not increase. I guess my drivers must have
disappeared.

I would not mind getting rid of Kubuntu for now (install later on a
different drive), but how can I best do this without having to go
through a tremendous hassle getting Window to work again on that computer?

Thanks for any help.

Murray
