My wife also uses only LINUX

I would agree that it is better in SOME ways, however when things go
wrong with XP they REALLY go wrong and the problems are no where as easy
to fix as with LINUX. Just as an example, if the system gets "blown"
and has to be reloaded, it is MUCH more difficult and time consuming to
get back to a working OS with all the fixes (unless you have done all
the work of creating a bootable CD with SP2 AND all of the updates since
then -- not a trivial task at all).

I know I have posted complaints about things in LINUX from time to time,
but when Windows goes wrong, it is a REAL problem!

I certainly have no intention of paying for an "upgrade" to Vista. If
the software I use now use on Windows finally becomes unsupported with
XP, I guess I will really start investigating alternatives for LINUX.
The two things that I am pretty well stuck with in Windows are Pinnacle
Studio (for video editing) and income tax preparation software. I
believe that there things are progressing on the video editing side, but
I haven't even seen anything else for Windows that can compare with
Pinnacle (excepting the very expensive professional systems). Certainly
offerings from Cyberlink, Nero and Roxio don't come close.
