Ooops, Ignore my questions should have read the subject line. Anyways
you will have to look at the boot options by editing the entry in grub.
If this is the primary drive on your computer then it should be very
basic. What you will need to look at are the following lines.
root(hd0,0)
And the kernel line and you need to look at the section that says
real_root=/dev/hda3
Was this a straight forward install or something strange like a dual
boot ?
