No kidding, I would even go so far as to say that the vast majority of 
sites I've visited do not validate correctly (even though they render 
correctly in FF).

What's really disturbing is when you e-mail the webmaster pointing to 
the output of the validator and he/she responds with "I don't understand 
any of that stuff, but the page seems to work fine in my browser".
