Well, if I can actually get to top,
(ie: system isn't so slow that I can open a TTY)
firefox is near the upper of the list. Mostly the
slowdowns only happen when FF is running.

I tend to pear down my system and remove
stuff that I don't need. That's why this surprises
me a bit. I am wondering if it may be
some cumulative problem in FF that has just now become
*more than just annoying* so that I am now noticing it.

An upgrade should help.
