[Discuss] Kubuntu, Ubuntu, Debian Repositories

I would like to find a list of existing repositories.  In particular, I would like to install the W32 codecs.  I have found some instructions on how to install them, but they must be obsolete as adding the repositories suggested simply "breaks" adept and anything else that uses the repository lists.

Is there anywhere I can find a list of valid repositories?  Does anyone know the correct repository for these codecs for Kubuntu 7.10 (gutsy)? I have "googled" things like "how to find repositories", and come up with lots of information, but none that have helped me so far.
