[Discuss] intel sata hardware RAID & FC3

I need some help on this subject. I'm building a dev server box for a
friend and it has an intel hardware RAID SATA card with two SATA drives
hooked up.
I got FC3 installed but as soon as the kernel loads, the box beeps
which I take to mean "drive failure". When I look into /var/log/messages
I see this :
sda:Adapter 0: SATA-A, ID 0: An IO failed due to an unrecoverable media
error
ata1: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0xEC00 ctl 0xE802 bmdma 0xDC00 irq 185
ata2: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0xE400 ctl 0xE002 bmdma 0xDC08 irq 185
ata1: SATA port has no device
ata2: SATA port has no device
Now if I reboot and enter the hardware RAID config tool, it reports
both drives as ok, so I can only theorize that the kernel currently in
use does not have the correct modules loaded/installed. Does this agree
with anyone else?
Thanks in advance.
PS : this beeping is driving me up the wall
