When I try to launch K3B in Kubuntu, I get the following error message:
No write access to device /dev/scd0
K3b needs write access to all the devices to perform certain tasks.
Without it you might encounter problems with UNKNOWN - WSM-52Z
Solution: Make sure you have write access to /dev/scd0. In case you
are not using devfs or udev K3bSetup is able to do this for you.
In the top panel, it shows my CD writer (WSM-52Z), and shows that there
is an blank CD-R in place. I have had no problems with K3B in Mandriva,
but don't really know what I should be doing to get it to work in
Kubuntu (7.04 Feisty Fawn). I installed K3B with my Kubuntu installation
and have version 1.0 (using KDE 3.5.6). As a user, I have added myself
to the cdrom group. If I do ls -l /dev/scd0, I get the following:
brw-rw-r-- 1 root cdrom 11, 0 2007-08-07 07:29 /dev/scd0
I am not sure what I would have to do to get K3B working. My current
"work around" is to copy files onto a flash drive, then create the CD or
DVD on either a Windows machine or on my wife's computer which is
running Mandriva.
I have tried "Google" to see if I could find a solution there, and also
tried the Kubuntu and K3B FAQs and forums without any luck.
