Thanks for the good advice, fellows. I really do love Ubuntu; it's a big 
change from the Linux I encountered a few years back, to end up with 
total frustration. Actually, by reinstalling Tbird I solved the problem; 
I think I had my user-name wrong, not the password.

See you at the VLUG meeting (there is good bus transport from where I 
live now, to get there- the #26 is direct from Esquimalt to UVic.
