Our annual general meeting is scheduled for November 14th at 7pm
at the University of Victoria, Cornett Building, Room B108. Please
see our website (http://www.vlug.org) for any last minute changes to
the venue or room number.

Only ACTIVE members of the society are eligible to both vote in the 
election
of a Board of Directors   AND  put forth a nomination to run for
any of the available Directors positions.

If you are or think you are an active (current) member of the society
and have NOT received a direct notice from this email address please
contact either myself or our membership director asap so this over site
may be rectified.

The following are the Director positions and the responsibilities of
each:

President:  Presides at all general meetings of the society and meetings 
of the directors. The President is chief executive officer of the 
society and supervises the other directors in the execution of their 
duties.

Vice President: carries out the duties of the president during the 
president's absence.

Secretary: Conduct the correspondence of the society; Issue notices of
general meetings of the society and meetings of the directors; Keep
minutes of the society and directors; Have custody of all records and
documents of the society except those required to be kept by the
treasurer and the Membership Director; Have custody of the common seal
of the society; and File reports as required by the Society Act.

Treasurer: Keep the financial records, including books of account,
necessary to comply with the Society Act; and Render financial
statements to the directors, members and others when required.

Membership Director: Keep and accurate database of all current members
of the society; Produce official membership cards.

Director At Large x2: Perform general society activities.

NOTE:  The president must have served as a director for at least one
term, but this rule may be waived, for the forthcoming term only, by
ordinary resolution at a general meeting.

We also have several non-director positions which are currently open for
volunteers if someone wishes to help out the club in other ways:

Publicity Coordinator: Liaise with Directors and general membership on 
promoting the society; Arrange promotional events; Maintain the current
membership brochure.

Meeting Coordinator: Line up presenters or other activities for monthly
meetings.
