Yeah, that's why I'd even think of using it (otherwise it'd be qemu). I 
can't afford non-free software as a student (luckily I don't even have 
to buy windows if I need it thanks to the msdnaa).

I am assuming it is pretty trivial to get going as no one said: vmware 
is faster but a pita to install.. and judging by a couple googles I just 
need the proper kernel headers installed and I run the vmware install 
script. Too easy.
