Peter was working at BCSC at the time and his wife's company was selling the CD if you wanted to get the media for the Distro.

RedHat used this distro as the basis for their offering.  There is a Linux timeline out there somewhere that covers all of these events in greater detail.  There are a couple of other distros that were based on Peter's work, but I can't remember them at the moment.

Possibly, UVic did allow some local consulting firms to use their facilities for free.
