[Discuss] recommended DVR-R brands for reliability?

I am now in the position of wanting to start using DVR-R media for 
all my backups, data and otherwise, but I am finding it difficult to 
determine what are the best brands to use, or what are the worst 
brands that I should stay away from.

Looking around for product reviews shows a wide range of opinions for 
any particular brand, so it is hard to go by them.

My main criteria is that they last a long time and/or are reliable. 
They should also be inexpensive.

My recorder is about 4 years old and can only handle DVD-Rs, so the 
+Rs are out of the question for the present.

More specifically, what are your opinions of these brands:

1. Ridata

2. Fuji

Alternately, what are good web sites to look at that actually compare 
and contrast the quality of different brands of this media.
