Ubuntu disables the cups web interface and instead (well kubuntu anyway) 
uses the kde printer management program.

If Murray is using kubuntu he should click on the K (start) menu, then 
system settings then the printers icon.

There is a 'wizard' for adding printers that is very easy to use.
