My BackUPS does indicate low/critical battery, but my SmartUPS gives me 
Real information. :)

I don't see it as complicated, just smart use of what battery power I 
Have. :) 
 
Very true though, many on the list may have no need to sustain their 
Internet connection and services as long as possible such as I.

As an aside, I have a Compaq T2000 UPS for which I'd love to get or
preferably make a cable.  It's a 9 pin cable but NOT a standard serial cable
 of course, it's Compaq!
 
Any-one have the pin-outs for this beasty?
