Exactly. Linksys are not cool. The wrt54g became very popular, so they 
go and make it a cheaper product (less mem etc) and then make a separate 
version (the GL, where 'L' stands for linux) for the people that want to 
play with firmware. Of course a lot of people ended up buying a dog of a 
router thanks to the popularity of the original 54g and their little 
product line revamp scheme.

If compudumb (I've had nothing but bad service from them) will let you 
return the router I'd heavily recommend it.

 From what I've seen the GL doesn't cost much more than it's lame little 
brother (currently $5 difference at ncix, $10 diff at anitec). Of course 
if the geeks at compusmart were worth their weight in 3.5" floppies they 
would have recommended the GL (actually I'm surprised they didn't as 
they do seem good at upselling).
